Let Parents Stay Anti-poverty Social Design by Yu Chen Let Parents Stay is a typeface based on traditional Han Embroidery, created to support a poverty-stricken village. Jinling Village is home to more than two thousand children left behind by working parents, and many residents are skilled in Han Embroidery. Local embroidery products sold poorly because the patterns had changed little for a hundred years. Classic embroidery elements were abstracted and reconstructed into modern letterforms, which local embroiderers stitch by hand. The aim is to create income and to pass the craft on in a modern visual language. Wuhan Diary Visual Diary by Yu Chen Wuhan Diary is a visual diary about daily life in Wuhan during the pandemic. The project uses programming to build terrain-based visual languages from collected public opinions and confirmed case data. Colour and the density of rolling mountain forms express the social environment and the changing mood of each period. A three-dimensional earth shape was built from parameterised data in Unity. Wuhan Diary is presented as a poster of 420 by 594 millimetres, together with motion graphics, augmented reality and interactive projection. |
